Live at The Town Hall

Following the postponement of Can’t Stop the Music (our fundraising event at Trowbridge Town Hall late last year), everyone at WRM remained determined to find a way to bring live music into our home town in 2021. Therefore, Live at the Town Hall was born – a weekly six-concert project featuring local songwriters within the community and beyond.

Performing on an actual stage is one of the things musicians have missed the most, so to be able to make that happen was crucial, as was the safety of all involved. With many musicians losing work during the pandemic - some at the very start of a burgeoning career in the industry - we were keen to make sure they were all paid to play on a stage, under lights, through a PA and in a venue.

Creative director Gavin Osborn booked the acts (as well as himself!) and, alongside Town Hall Director David Lockwood and Venue Manager Jessica Bennett, put everything in place to ensure these concerts were performed in accordance with Covid-safe guidelines, maintaining social distancing at all times.

Press Officer Jamie McDine filmed and edited the entire project, and deserves our thanks for an extraordinary effort to make six stunning films.

Kieran Moore was integral to the project too, running the sound and lighting desk with incredible skill.

The six acts in this pilot project are:

Tamsin Quin (Acoustic folk/blues singer-songwriter from Devizes)

Concrete Prairie (Americana country/folk three-piece band from Bath)

Stevie Nicole Brown (acoustic pop/rock singer-songwriter from the West Country)

Kid Carpet (acclaimed disco-punk songwriter from Bristol)

Harmony Asia (pop/folk singer-songwriter from Chippenham)

Gavin Osborn and The Comment Section (storytelling folk songwriter from Bath)

These are all pre-recorded concerts, to be screened on weekly YouTube, every Saturday night at 7pm from February 20th 2021.

We wanted to make sure audiences at home enjoyed a well-filmed, well-edited concert, as an antidote to so much live-streamed footage. Thanks to funding from Trowbridge Town Hall, and the efforts of everyone involved, we are really proud of what we’ve achieved.

To support the project and hopefully enable us to make more live shows in the future, please watch the videos, like and subscribe, and donate at www.trowbridgetownhall.com/donate
