Compose Yourself
The Basics of Songwriting in a Digital Age
Recently we posted a video on our Facebook page of a composer called Richard Jackson, demonstrating the basics of musical composition on digital software.
Initially, we wanted to kick start our ‘Compose Yourself’ project at the Gloucester Road hub, in person, with five students all learning from our WRM iPads. Obviously, the lockdown forced us to rethink and try something online.
Whilst the video gives an indication of the project itself, we will be rebooting this if we get enough interest. The aim is to help the many musicians who don’t know the basics of writing and recording music into digital software; those musicians brimming with ideas who need a step-by-step guide to everything from equipment to production.
We would love to continue this project but we need to see how many people are interested before taking it further. If you would benefit from more of these videos (not necessarily from Richard but along similar lines) or if you know someone who might, please contact creativedirector@wiltshireruralmusic.co.uk
