Sophie Madden live in Salisbury

Sophie Madden is an exceptionally accomplished singer, trumpeter and pianist, as well as the deserved winner of the 2020 Liz Lawrence Award at Wiltshire Rural Music.

Having chosen the beautiful St Martin's Church in Salisbury as the venue for her award winner's concert, Sophie will perform in a variety of styles, from opera and choral music to jazz. She will be accompanied by musically gifted family, friends and fellow students from Cambridge University, where she is currently studying music.

Sophie is a light lyric soprano with the facility for florid coloratura, particularly Baroque and Handelian. Previous live work whilst at school included solos in Handel' Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Haydn's Nelson Mass. External concerts included performances of Hansel & Gretel and Don Giovanni for Salisbury's Celebrate Voice, and for La Folia/Wiltshire Creative she worked with composer Howard Moody on his opera 'Push'.

During her time at school, Sophie performed in the a cappella choir at St Martin's Church and is thrilled to be returning to her home town for this exclusive concert.
