The Best of Wiltshire Rural Music
A Fundraiser to celebrate over 80 years of music in the community
Here at Wiltshire Rural Music, we are very proud of the many varied opportunities we provide to people of all ages and abilities. Whether it’s making music as part of our ensembles and groups, taking part in our workshops or getting your first taste of playing an instrument, there is something to inspire everyone. We also still offer the Young Person’s Bursary Scheme, for children between 5-18 who may need help with music tuition costs, as well as the Liz Lawrence Award, an annual award given to promising Wiltshire students looking to further their career in music.
To keep all this going (and to produce further outreach events like our collaboration with Mobile Libraries, Music on the Move), we are holding a great big fundraiser day in Trowbridge.
Kicking things off with a Mini Musicians taster session, Ruth Heywood will be taking a class for babies, pre-school children and their parents. Tickets for this will go fast, so book now for that one from our website.
Then we’ll be joined by members of the Ebonite clarinet group, followed by an hour-long singing workshop with Clarity Choir and Bratton Sings leader Clara Atkins. The choirs will also perform later in the day.
Throughout the fundraiser, you will be able to take part yourself – or even just kick back and enjoy the many talented local musicians, as we host an Open Mic. So whether you’re a singer, a songwriter, a soloist, a band or a duet, put your name down and get up and give it a go!
Members past and present from our orchestra, chamber group, string-a-long, past Liz Lawrence Award nominees.
Expect a day of joyful celebration as we bring he very best of Wiltshire Rural Music to the Holy Trinity Church in Trowbridge. Free entry (except for Mini Musicians). Donations welcome throughout the day.
10am – 5pm on Saturday 6th July 2019.
Tickets are now available on the events page.
