This library is guaranteed not to be quiet, as Wiltshire Rural Music takes a series of concerts and musical workshops on the road across the county.
You can borrow a book, enjoy a free cup of tea and join local musicians on board the mobile library as it makes it’s way around the villages of Wiltshire for a musical performance at every stop. From violin concertos to African mbira workshops, Music on the Move will give the local community an opportunity to enjoy recitals and explore new instruments, with talented Wiltshire musicians.
On Wednesday May 1st the mobile library will tour the south of Wiltshire, having 20 minute concert stops performed by the Bybrook Duo, violinist Catherine Chamberlain and Cellist Lorna Davis, at Old Sarum, Stratford-sub-Castle and Lower Woodford. From 1:45-4pm you can take part in a fun community music workshop at Maddington Church Rooms in Shrewton with Liv McLennon, and a Mystic Mbira workshop with Chartwell Dutiro and Jori Buchel. South Wiltshire Mobile Library manager, and driver, Kate Bryant, will also be performing on Tenor Sax between lending books!
The musical mobile library will be back on the road again on Wednesday May 15th, this time covering the north of the county. There will be 20 minute Clarinet Duo performances at Yatton Keynell, Nettleton, Castle Combe and North Wraxall. Folk musicians Green Matthews will be playing a wide variety of instruments and telling stories through music during their performance at Quarry Lane in Colerne, from 10:15-12:45.
Working together with Wiltshire Libraries, Wiltshire Rural Music are helping to bring the music to your doorstep. The Trowbridge based charity inspires people of all ages across Wiltshire to discover exciting new music and gives them the opportunity to make music and realise their musical ambitions.
