'Music on Your Doorstep' in Mere

On Saturday 28th April 2018 WRM held its second 'Music on Your Doorstep' event in Mere, in the south of the county. 80 people attended the event throughout the day and took part in the Singing, Music Tech, African Drumming and Ukulele workshops on offer. As part of day there were also opportunities for people to try one of many music instruments from our instrument loan scheme as well as explore the latest iPad apps and Jam Pod.

The event boasted the opportunity for all ages and abilities to come together, try new things, meet new people and have fun.

'Music really does draw people together, cross generational events just don't happen so much these days.' - Event participant.

"There doesn't appear to be much on offer in the way of music down here in Mere and having talked to many of the people on Saturday that is even more evident now." - Creative Director, Ben Vleminckx.

WRM would like to thank the South West Wiltshire Area Board (Wiltshire Council) for their financial support to make this event happen!

As a result of this event West African drumming sessions are going to run on a regular basis in the town to encourage more people to get involved with music and try something new.
